Wednesday Hodgepodge

Didn't think I'd be able to participate in Hodgepodge today as Abby and I both have appointments later this morning, but I was bound and determined to carve out some time. Care to join us? All you need to do is answer the questions on your own blog and link up.

1.  Do you find yourself influencing your world, or is it more the other way around? I'd like to think it's a little bit of both. I can influence the world be showing compassion, being kind and considerate, and smiling often. I am influenced by others when I hear an inspiring story about how someone has extended a helping hand to a person in need. Unfortunately, we don't hear enough of stories like that today.

2.  July 14th is National Tape Measure Day...the device was patented on this day in 1868. When did you last use a tape measure? Do you always know where to find one in your house? Tell us one way in which you feel blessed 'beyond measure'. The last time I used a tape measure was this past weekend when we moved Brittany into her new apartment. Chris and I measured some of her walls so we could center her canvas art. Yes, I know where I can find a tape measure...in Chris' tool box. One way I feel blessed beyond measure is being able to conquer many of the struggles I've been faced with the past few years. Getting stronger every day!

3.  The Plaza Hotel (Eloise), The Land of Oz (The Wizard of Oz), Narnia (The Chronicles of Narnia), The Hundred Acre Wood (Winnie the Pooh), Wonderland (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland), or Never Never Land (Peter Pan)...which storybook land (on this list) would you most like to visit and why? I'd definitely visit the Land of Oz because since I'm only 4'11', I'd fit right in with all the Munchkins. ;)

4.  Where and when do you get your best ideas? Believe it or not...in the shower. Crazy, I know.

5.  So what have you been watching on TV this summer? Anything good? I can't get enough of 'Southern Charm', though they recently had the season finale. Also, 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' and 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey'. Yeah...we all know how REAL they all are!

6.  'Don't swim for an hour after you eat', 'Dog days of summer', 'Knee high by the Fourth of July'...choose a summer saying from the list or share one of your own, then tell us what image or memory comes to mind when you hear it spoken. 'Don't go swimming right after you eat or you'll get side stiches.'-I can hear my mom telling me that whenever I was on my way to the pool after eating lunch. She was right on the money, too. There were times I didn't heed her warning and got terrible pains in my side.

7.  In a single sentence, sum up one life lesson you've learned.  God is always in control!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  On Monday night, Chris and I attended our first meeting for parents of prodigals called HOPE. It's part of the Celebrate Recovery program at our church and I loved it! We were in a group of about 10 other parents and we each took turns sharing our personal stories and journeys. I was the second one to share and I started crying, immediately. However, not one person in that room judged me. I felt nothing but support and understanding and it was beyond freeing to be completely REAL. I will definitely be going back next Monday. I can't wait to see the good that God will bring from the experience!

Have a great Wednesday!
