I've Returned

Do any of you ever feel the need to just step away from blogging for awhile...for whatever reason? I've noticed in the past month or so that I've lost my desire to post anything. I've been at a loss for words, for inspiration, for motivation. So, I took a couple of weeks off to just be. I have to admit that it was just what my soul needed. It gave me time to take an introspective look at a lot of things both big and small. In a sense, it gave me time to get to know myself, again, silly as that may sound. Sometimes, when you're a wife and a mom, it's easy to become all-consumed with taking care of everyone else that you allow your own self to fall by the wayside. So, I feel like I'm in a good place, once again, and ready to get back into the swing of blogging.

There have been a lot of things that have gone on since I took a break. Brittany came home a couple of weekends ago and we had such a great time together as a family. We went to an antique festival about 10 miles from here and enjoyed walking the streets looking at antiques and arts and crafts. She has taken a new job as a recreational therapist at a mental health facility at one of the hospitals in Atlanta. She will start the first week of June. She will be working with adults on an outpatient basis. The best part is that she will be closer to home...approximately 50 miles. It's something we've been praying about for some time.

On another note, Abby has been telling us lately that she feels she might suffer from depression/anxiety. She has mood swings, difficulty sleeping and waking up, difficulty focusing, etc. So, I made an appointment for her last week to be evaluated. The nurse practicioner determined that she, in fact, has the classic symptoms and started her on the lowest dosage possible of Zoloft. She said it will take two to four weeks for her to notice any changes. So, we're hopeful the medication will help her feel better.  She will finish her first semester of college classes tomorrow with finals scheduled on the 10th. Summer classes begin on the 23rd, so she'll have a couple of weeks to enjoy a break.

I'm a attempting to rediscover my love for taking photos of nature. On Saturday, Chris and I decided to take a drive into North Georgia and over to South Carolina for the day. Taking a nice, long drive helps to clear the mind of cobwebs, so to speak.

Here's one shot I took...

When I got home from church, I snapped a few more. Here's a dove on our back deck...

My coreopsis is in full bloom...

Looks like this little fella had a bite taken out of his tail...

And I couldn't resist taking this shot of the mallard couple that comes in our backyard daily for bread. The male has a lame foot that still isn't healed, so he hobbles around a lot...

Yes, a little break is just what I needed, I think. Thank all of you for your patience and understanding. Time to wipe the slate clean and start, again.
