Wednesday Hodgepodge

I took a much-needed break from blogging for a couple of weeks, but I'm happy to be back today for Hodgepodge! If you'd like to join in with us, simply answer the questions on your own blog and link up by clicking on the button.

1.  What's something fun you're looking forward to on your May calendar?  Brittany recently took a new job in Atlanta (she'll be closer to home...YAY!) and she wants me to help her find an apartment on the 16th or 17th. Of course, she's in Atlanta now visiting her boyfriend, David, and they started looking at some yesterday. She's already found one that she loves, so she may go ahead and sign a lease...we'll have to wait and see.

2.  What are some images that come to mind when you hear the word 'mother'?  I picture a small child sitting on her mother's lap in a warm embrace or a woman sitting beside her dying mother's beside holding her hand. When I picture my own mom who passed away in 2000, I think of the two of us wearing the same dresses. She would sew us matching dresses when I was a little girl. I think of her beautiful, radiant skin that always smelled like Oil of Olay. I think of her big, brown eyes that looked so gentle, understanding, and welcoming. I can still see her standing on her front porch waiting for me to arrive for a visit...always with a big smile and arms open wide. She was L-O-V-E personified.

3.  What's something beautiful you own or something you've seen that's made of glass? A Waterford vase that Chris and I received as a wedding gift nearly 27 years ago...

4.  Was today typical? If not, what made it unusual?  No, it wasn't typical because with Abby's classes ending yesterday, I didn't have to set my alarm and was able to sleep in just a little while longer...for me that would equate to a whopping 15 minutes.

5.  What is a quality you wish you could have more of?  Probably the ability of being more straightforward and not 'sugar-coating' everything to fit the situation. There's much to be said about telling things like they are, but doing so diplomatically.

6.  What's the next major purchase you need to make?  Will it happen in the month of May? Our push lawn mower is about to die. We have a riding mower, but Chris has to use a push mower on parts of our backyard due to the sloping. Yes, I think it will happen in May...early June at the very latest.

7.  What job/responsibility/work did you dislike growing up, but proved helpful to you as an adult? One summer, I worked as the receptionist at the sales office in Hot Springs Village, AR. When folks would come in to look at properties, I'd have to call the sales agent over the intercom to come meet them. Being that I was a tad shy, it caused me to step out of my comfort zone and now you can't get me to stop talking!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  Chris is in Biloxi, MS. for a 3-day golf outing with his golf buddies. I think about 25 men went altogether. It's something he's been looking forward to for a long time. Looks like they'll have great weather. I hope he enjoys himself...he deserves this time away. Also, Abby moved back home one year ago today...I continue to thank God for His faithfulness.

Have yourself a terrific day, friends!
