The Gift Of Good Health

I really didn't have any intention of posting today, but I have a few things I'd like to share. The first is a funny one. So, I had to take Chris in yesterday for his much-dreaded colonoscopy. He had one 5 years ago and they removed some polyps, so this was done as a follow-up. We, of course, were there for what felt like an eternity. After all was said and done, the nurse called me back. Bless his heart, he was completely out of it. He was sleeping with both eyes open, which kind of creeped me out. He didn't even blink. The doctor came in and informed me that no polyps were found and he was good to go for another 5 years. Thank you, Lord! A nurse popped in and instructed me to try and wake him. So, I walked over to Chris's bedside and tapped him on the arms and face. He, finally, looked over at me and said, 'You're so beautiful; there are two of you.'  I gushed and thought how sweet that was for him to say. Then, without skipping a beat, he said, 'You're  witch! You have a LOOONG nose and a big wart on the end of it!'  I am not kidding...I recorded him! I about died from laughing so hard! Of course, he didn't believe me until I showed him the evidence later on. I have yet to determine if he was saying what was really on his mind or if the meds. had gotten the best of him. Whatever the case may be, I have good blackmail material if ever needed. ;)

On a more serious note, I believe I've mentioned here before that Chris has a brother who underwent quintuple bypass surgery when he was 40 years old; he's now 54. They had told him then that because he has such a deep chest and it was hard to get to the problem areas, they likely wouldn't be able to do that type of surgery, again, should problems arise. He was told the bypass may last about 10 years. Well, he's been experiencing bouts of chest discomfort and vomiting for the past 6 months. In fact, when he was here at Thanksgiving, unbeknownst to all of us, he had an episode. When he got home, he underwent a stress test and a heart cath. and determined that he has a blockage. So, on Jan. 5th, he'll undergo a procedure that will determine the extent and location of the blockage and what can be done, if anything. The only reason he isn't having it done before Christmas is because he's worried he might have to stay in the hospital for awhile and would miss Christmas altogether, which has Chris very concerned. We'd much rather him miss Christmas than chance something tragic happening. He and my MIL both live in denial about his health problems. He's, also, diabetic and suffers from sleep apnea and has done nothing to modify his diet and become healthier. Simply said, he's a ticking time-bomb, in my opinion. I have lost one brother myself and I just would hate for Chris to go through the same thing with his. So, say a prayer, if you would.

On a different note, I'm getting ready to get a new phone next week. I've had an iPhone since they came out and am thinking of going with the Samsung Galaxy. Do any of you have the Galaxy and, if so, what are your thoughts on it? Do you like it better than the iPhone? Any input you can share would be awesome!

Well, just got back from getting my haircut, then off to the eye doctor with Abby this afternoon. Plans have to be made for her to go back in to get her eyes tweaked with LASIK. Some minor adjustments have to be made. The doctor wants to get her as close to perfect vision as possible.

Enjoy your weekend and don't stress!
