Weekend Recap
I'm sure there are those of you who are familiar with the term 'golf widow'. It refers to a woman whose husband/significant other golfs A LOT. Well, that describes me perfectly. Chris got home last week on Wednesday evening and he golfed from Thursday through Sunday. He was in a tournament yesterday and shot a 75, but didn't win overall. The upside is that I always seem to get some things accomplished around the house that have been nagging me awhile. I painted a bookshelf in Brittany's old room (that still sounds so weird to say), deep-cleaned the entire upstairs, and went through a bunch of stuff to donate to Good Will. That's not too shabby, if I say so myself.
Abby attended church with me yesterday, which thrilled me, immensely. It doesn't happen nearly as often as I'd like, so I'll take whatever I can get. It was another great sermon on LOVE. Perfect. What moved me more than anything is seeing a precious 80 year old woman from Nigeria get baptized. The minister asked if she had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was ready to be baptized. She threw both of her hands straight up to Heaven and shouted, 'Oh, yes...Praise Jesus!' I burst into tears, which is not uncommon for me when someone makes a public profession of faith, but there's just something especially touching about witnessing an 80 year old lady doing so.
Any guesses what Abby did with some of her friends yesterday afternoon in downtown Atlanta? They went to the World Congress Center and saw Donald Trump. If he should get elected as President, they didn't want to pass up the opportunity to see him in person. She said he was thirty minutes late in taking the podium, but was very entertaining. I think about 12,000 people showed up for the rally, which is HUUUUUGE! Sorry...I just couldn't resist.
Brittany called me yesterday evening to tell me about the stressful day she'd had at work. She said the boys on the unit went completely out-of-control and starting getting into fights with each other and staff. It got so bad they had to call a Code 1, which is URGENT. Other staff had to rush in and break up the fights and put some of the kids involved in isolation. She was completely exhausted when she got home. She has another interview tomorrow at a facility for a similar population of kids that's only an hour away from us. She seems to be excited, yet nervous about it. I'm sure she'll do just great, but your prayers are appreciated.
It is pouring rain here right now and is expected to do so until Wednesday or Thursday. Guess I should be thankful that we had some decent weather over the weekend. Even the birds were fooled into thinking spring had arrived...
How was your weekend? Do tell!
