I haven't been able to find the time to blog this week until right now. Brittany came home on Monday for a few days and, you know me, I didn't want to miss a thing. The main reason she came home was so we could celebrate her 24th birthday a little early. Her actual birthday is on Feb. 1st, but she will be out-of-town that weekend and will work on the day of her birthday. Sometimes, you just have to take whatever you can get and make the very best of it, so that's exactly what we did.
She requested a white birthday cake with cream cheese frosting, which gave me the perfect opportunity to take my new Kitchen Aid mixer for a test drive. Let me say, I am IN LOVE! Makes me wonder how I ever got along without one. In fact, I would venture to say the cake was one of the best I've ever made...
After enjoying some cake, Brittany decided to take a little ride on a hover board that belongs to one of Abby's best friends. Within a few mins., she had it all figured out...
It took Abby and I a bit longer, but we have it mastered now. The first time I rode it, Brittany doubled over in laughter because all I could do on it was go around in circles. Nothing a little determination on my part couldn't fix. I stayed with it and now I can zip all over the house. Not too shabby for a 51 year old woman, I'd say.
We took Brittany to dinner at Olive Garden on Tuesday night...it was her choice. I never tire of being able to have my family of four together, laughing as though time has never even moved. Another thing I never tire of seeing is my two girls in the same room. Granted one was on her phone and the other was attempting to master the art of knitting, but they're with each other and all was well in my corner of the world...
Brittany stayed around until yesterday evening. She always wants to make her visits last as long as she possibly can...and I do, too. There just never is enough time with her these days. Before she left, we had her open her birthday gifts and I think she was pleased with what she got...
For now, my cup is full, once again.
