Those who know me well can attest to the fact that there is nothing in this world that makes my heart jump for joy more than having my family together. Finding the opportunity to do so is somewhat of a juggling act because you have to work around various schedules and it just isn't an easy task, anymore. Thankfully, this was one weekend that neither Brittany nor Abby had to work.
Brittany got home close to 8 PM on Friday night. Abby, Chris, and I went out to an early dinner so we could be home when Brittany arrived. She was worn out when she got here. She had put in a full day at work and the kids, for the most part, had not been compliant, behaviorally. It's really beginning to wear on her. As her mom, it concerns me and, of course, causes me some frustration because it's all out of my hands. That said, I wanted to make sure that her time here was stress-free and enjoyable.
Abby went to Athens with some friends and came back around 1 PM on Saturday. So, Brittany and I went out to lunch, then spent the rest of the afternoon shopping. We had such a fun time and laughed about everything under the sun. She found a lot of bargains at T.J. Maxx, which is one of our favorite stores. That evening, Chris took us all to dinner at Marlow's Tavern. We made a mistake of getting an order of the kettle chips as an appetizer and we were all stuffed by the time our meals arrived. We walked our dinner off (at least, in our minds) at the mall for a little while, then came back and watched 'The Gift' with Jason Bateman. Have you seen it? It's a very suspenseful/creepy movie and we all liked it a lot.
The girls and I did a little more shopping yesterday afternoon and they found more items than I did...I came back with one shirt. Yay, me. Abby had to be at work at 4:30 PM, so I convinced them to go on our back deck for pictures. They always see that as an opportunity to act like complete goofballs.
I mean, c'mon, what is this all about?
Needless to say, I didn't end up with any shots that I'd necessarily consider to be 'frame-worthy', but I sure enjoyed seeing more memories be made.
Have any of you heard of the app called 'Face Swap Live'? Oh, my goodness, it is hilarious! You swap faces with someone else...your spouse, your kids, your sister. That's Brittany on the left with Abby's face and Abby is on the right with Brittany's face. You can even switch your face with animals, celebs, zombies, etc. I had tears rolling down my face! It's a must-try!
All in all, it was a perfect weekend. Perfect family time, perfect weather, perfect memories...
