There aren't many things I can think of that I simply detest. I do detest oysters and brussel sprouts. Oh, and I definitely detest car shopping. I can't stand it! Well, this past weekend, I discovered something that I detest even more so than shopping for a car. Furniture shopping! We've had our family room furniture for about twelve years now and I am so ready for a change. So, the first thing I did was advertise it on our neighborhood's website. Within two days, we sold our leather recliner and all three of our wrought iron tables. So, this is what our family room now looks like...
We're still trying to sell our sofa and loveseat. We spent all weekend long trying to find a new sofa, loveseat, and chair...tables can wait a little while. I bet we visited 7-8 furniture stores. I soon realized that what I want and what Chris wants are two different things. He wants a big, puffy leather recliner and sofa that recline. Masculine to the hilt. I, on the other hand, want something that is comfortable, yet looks nice and inviting. Well, we ended up at the La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery. Chris found a set that he loved..me, not so much. I spotted another set by the window that I liked, so I walked over to check it out. SOLD! We're a short couple and it's hard to find a sofa/loveseat that fit us just right and they did! Of course, I had some convincing to do to win Chris over...I pointed out that they both recline, as does the matching chair! Win-win! We took Abby back with us on Sunday afternoon and she helped me pick out the fabric for all three pieces...the primary color is chocolate brown. Should take about 6-8 weeks for it to come in. I'll be sure to post pics. when all is said and done. However, I was never so thrilled to finally find some pieces we could agree on! Yes, I detest furniture shopping A LOT!
What do I love? Lots of things! However, these pieces of canvas art are tops in my book. Abby painted the one in the middle and gave it to me last Christmas when she was moved out. Brittany did the end pieces for me. I love what they say, but, most importantly, that they came from my girls...
One more thing I love is that the leaves are starting to change color here. I'm seeing some yellows and reds popping out in our backyard and it makes me happy...
Change can be good and it's something I definitely welcome, even if it involves shopping for new furniture.
