30th College Reunion-The Citadel, Charleston, SC.

I didn't think I was going to be able to post today. Abby has been suffering the past couple of days with terrible back spasms. In fact, all she was able to do yesterday was lie on the sofa in pain. I took her to an urgent care clinic on Sunday and they put her on muscle relaxers. They seem to have helped a little, but she's supposed to taper off of them and only take three Advil every six hours. Hopefully, she'll be better by tomorrow. If not, the doctor will write an order for physical therapy.

On Thursday, we drove down to Charleston, SC to meet Chris for his 30th college reunion at The Citadel. One of the first places we went was Summerall Chapel on campus. It's, actually, where my mother-in-law and father-in-law got married...

Then, we drove down by the Battery and went walking along Rainbow Row to see some of the beautiful homes...

This picture of Abby cracks me up because the sun must have been shining right in her eyes. It was about 82 degrees out, too, so we were burning up...

Abby and I enjoyed dinner that night at California Dreaming while Chris went to a reception with his classmates. This was the view from our room that evening...

On Friday, we went to the Slave Market downtown and browsed around in all the shops. I'm kicking myself for not taking some pictures there. That night, we enjoyed dinner out with Chris's cousins, Dan and Becky, who live in downtown Charleston in a home that was built in the 1870s.

On Saturday, we got to The Citadel around 9 AM. The barracks were open to the public, so we got to see where Chris spent four years of his life...

Here he is standing in front of the Big M, which stands for Mike Company...

Chris with some of his brothers from 3rd Battalion. The light blue shirts and hats were part of their alumni package...

We got to attend parade at 11 AM. Talk about an impressive sight! If you're ever in Charleston, I highly recommend you take in the event that is held every Friday. The Corp of Cadets...OUTSTANDING!

Loved hearing the bagpipers play...

Here's Chris gathered with some of his classmates as they prepared to march into the stadium to take on VMI. Each classmate was given a mask, a shield, and/or sword...

His class had the most returning alumni that any class has ever had at homecoming. They marched in yelling, 'We are Sparta!'...

Chris is the one on the left holding up his shield and sword...

See the white arrow? That's the hubby...

One of their classmates did a fly-over at the start of the game...

Abby and I ended up leaving at half-time to drive home since it was a 5-hour drive back. Good news...Citadel beat VMI! Here's one of the barracks that I took a picture of as we were leaving...

Of course, no trip to Charleston is complete without snapping a shot of the beautiful Spanish moss hanging from trees...

We all had such a fun and memorable weekend! I loved watching Chris be reunited with his classmates and friends. It truly is a brotherhood like none other. The Citadel helped mold Chris into the man, husband, and father he is today...a job well done!
