Time to wrap up our summer vacation. On our sixth day, we decided to do something fun, exciting, and challenging...white water rafting at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. It was the first time for all of us. We had one amazing time! Our guide, Tad, was so nice and funny...he made the experience all the more memorable. The trip took about an hour and a half. We went down, mostly, Class 3 rapids and one Class 4. At one point, Chris yelled out, 'SNAKE!' I looked up at the limbs dangling above my and Brittany's heads and a black snake was about to drop in our raft! We about died and that was the kind of close call I hope I never have, again! Then, a bumblebee landed smack dab on Abby's face and became almost entangled in her hair, but she didn't get stung...miracle of miracles!
Here the girls are after surviving our rafting trip...
I can still almost hear that rustling water...
Here's where some Olympic kayakers go to train...
Once we got back and cleaned up, we took a few family shots on the porch before heading to dinner. Chris is always such a ham...
This is a little church near our cabin that caught my eye every time we drove by it...
The last campfire of our vacation...
This photo doesn't do the scenery justice. Leaving it behind almost brought tears to my eyes...
The week with my family left my heart filled to the brim. I'll look back on our time together with thankfulness to God for His loving kindness and grace. As you know, there were many times when I thought that our time together as a family was numbered. Amazing what God can do to heal broken hearts when you continue to trust in Him.
