Wednesday Hodgepodge

I cant begin to tell y'all how much I've missed blogging! I'm not kidding! Such a void in my life. I've had every good intention in the world of getting back into the swing of things, but seems like something always happens to prevent me from doing so. I told myself yesterday that no matter how difficult it might be, starting next week, I'm going to blog, at least, three days each week. Now, there may be some weeks when that won't work, but I'm going to give it my all. I need to make it a priority, again. For today, I'm thrilled to join all of you for Hodgepodge! If you'd like to join, too, simply answer the questions on your own blog and link up by clicking the button.

1.  Something on your October calendar that makes you smile. First and foremost is Abby's 19th birthday. As you recall, her birthday last year took us on a painful journey that lasted seven months. I know that when Oct. 14 rolls around, the day she moved out (just three days after her birthday), it will stir up some memories for me that I'd rather forget. However, she has come so far and is home and doing well, so her birthday this year will definitely be reason for us all to celebrate! Secondly, on Oct. 21st, Chris and I will celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary. I tell you, if I didn't have that man to stand by my side through everything we've been through this past year, I don't know what I'd do.

2.  Food for the soul or music for the soul...which camp are you in? Tell us why? Definitely music for the soul! Music can lift my spirits and make me want to get up and dance! I listen to music every opportunity I have...it speaks to my soul! I love all genres!

3.  What are two things you've learned recently as a result of an online search? The phone number for the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Why? Brittany found a stray dog wandering along the interstate near her work the other day. So, she pulled over and rescued the dog. She looks like a mix between a pit bull and a boxer. Brittany took her back to her apartment and has made every attempt to find its rightful owner, though the dog had no micro chip or tag. So, she's going to bring the dog home this weekend and take it to the local SPCA. They have room to care for her and Brittany just isn't in a position of doing so. I've been to the SPCA before and it's a wonderful facility and I have no doubt that the dog will be well-taken care of. Poor Brittany is already attached to her. I, also, did a search on DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) to see if I could find a pair of shoes online that I'd seen in the store but were out of my size.

4.  Share your favorite game day recipe. You can describe it, post the how-to, or add a link to the actual recipe.  Truthfully, I don't go all out on game day food. Chris prefers to snack on nuts and maybe some chips and dip. I often make a pot of chili.

5.  What are your five essential steps for creating the perfect morning routine? My morning starts with eating my typical bowl of Cheerios, which I've been doing since I was about ten years old. Then, I kick back on the sofa and watch 'The Tonight Show' that I recorded from the previous night. Next, comes a cup of hot green tea to give me an added boost of energy. I, then, sit down with my iPad to check my e-mails and read the message on my First 5 app. (daily Bible lesson-LOVE it!). Before I know it, it's time to head to the park or hop on the treadmill for a run.

6.  What small things have you taken note of today? A few dishes in my sink that need to be put in the dishwasher. The way Maddie looks when she's sleeping. She'll turn 15 on October 24th...another thing that makes me smile about October. The blue sky and sun shining...we've had rain the past several days and it's a welcomed change.

7.  Sum up your September in seven words or less.  Gone much too fast!

8.  Insert your own random thought here. I'm sure that many of you are familiar with the song 'Flawless' by Mercy Me, but the song and video have taken on new meaning for me. I can't hear the song or watch the video without tearing up. I'm so grateful to serve a God who, in spite of all my failings, loves me anyway and sees me as perfectly flawless...

Remember, you're flawless in His eyes, too!
