Summer 2015 Vacation-Pt. 2

After a good night's rest nestled in the Smoky Mountains, the four of us got up on Wednesday morning, ate a light breakfast, and packed for some hiking and exploring.

Of course, as we were getting ready to leave, I had to take a shot of one of the pretty wildflowers I spotted...

We drove down by a creek not too far from our cabin. Our plan was to play in the water for awhile, but, boy, was it ever C-O-L-D!

Beautiful butterflies were everywhere...

I couldn't get enough of the scenery. Every direction you looked was 'picture perfect'...

The girls and I had such fun looking for rocks and tadpoles...

Naturally, Chris decided to venture out deeper into the water and walk across the entire creek bed...

Here's a rock that Abby found. We joked about it being some sort of dinosaur's tooth...

Once we left the creek, we drove over to a popular area called Deep Creek for some hiking and to have a picnic lunch. During our hike, we came upon a deer feeding about 10 ft. in front of us. We continued to walk closer and he never even flinched. We got within about 3-4 ft. of him, then he darted off, but I was so happy to have captured these shots...

After we got back to our cabin and had dinner, we headed for the hot tub, then spent some time by the fire Chris built. I was experimenting with my camera for this shot. Brittany took a stick, stoked the fire with it, then made a circular motion above her head and I snapped away...

I know I mentioned that I was going to share with you about our exciting tubing trip, but that will be happening tomorrow as I got my days mixed up. So, be sure to stay tuned! Adventure awaits!
