Wednesday Hodgepodge
It's been a long, HOT week and it's only Wednesday! What better way to take my mind off things than to join in Hodgepodge? Interested in joining, too? Just answer the questions on your own blog, link up, and the rest is history.
1. If you could sit beside and/or jump in any lake in the whole wide world today, which lake would you choose and why? I, actually, have two-one would be Tellico Lake in Loudon, TN. It's located on a property my dad helped develop called Tellico Village. Want to know the backdrop? The Smoky Mountains. How does that grab you? The second would be Lake Murray in Chapin, SC. where my mother-in-law lives. Her house sits looking straight out into it. Such a fun place to go boating, skiing, and tubing.
2. What's your favorite 'fruity' drink? A virgin pina colada. Anything with coconut and I'm all in!
3. I read a list of 13 things you need to do right now to simplify your life. They were-clean as you go, re-evaluate your relationships (cut toxic ties), unsubscribe (too many blogs and websites), de-clutter, write down your daily goals, reply to e-mails right away, forget multitasking, create a morning routine, re-evaluate your commitments (which hobbies and responsibilities are most important to you), say no, clean up your computer, and plan your day ahead. Which of the tasks listed do you currently find most helpful in keeping life simple? Which item should you adopt in order to simplify your life this month? Well, let's just say that if I didn't have a morning routine, my sanity would go right out the door. The one item I'd like to adopt this month is to clean up our computer. I have thousands of pictures saved to it and I need to spend some time organizing, printing, and even deleting many of them.
4. What did you do the summer after you graduated from high school? I graduated in 1982 (GULP!) and I worked as a receptionist at the sales office in Hot Springs Village, AR.. I spent many of my days off lazing by the pool with my friends.
5. Are you a fan of podcasts? If so, what's your favorite. I have never listened to one, but if I did, I'd have to tune in to Hoda Kotb's...love her!
6. Do you think today's fathers have it harder, easier, or just different than fathers in the past?
I think fathers deal with the same sorts of issues today that were dealt with back in earlier decades. However, with TV, music, and social media being such strong influencers now, I do think it makes it much harder on them. Vulgarity, disrespect, drug/alcohol usage, sexual promiscuity, etc. have almost become the norm in today's society because of what's being portrayed through those means. So, fathers (and mothers) have a real struggle on their hands to raise children who don't follow the ways of the world.
7. Tell us one way you're like your father. Or not at all like your father if that's easier. Well, the most obvious way I'm like my dad is that he was short in stature and so am I. Another way I'm like him is that I'm devoted to my family, just as he was until the day he died in 2006. Also, he was a diehard Arkansas Razorbacks fan...I am, too! Woo Pig Sooie! I sure do miss him...
8. Insert your own random thought here. I thought I had pulled a muscle in my back, but I think I have back spasms, instead. It's like a shooting pain that pops up out of nowhere, depending on how I turn or how I'm sitting. Yep...growing older is peachy alright! It's a new ailment every day it seems.
