Mother's Day Weekend

I've opted out of Hodgepodge today because I still feel as though I'm playing catch-up. Sure hate to miss it. I had such a wonderful Mother's Day weekend! Chris got home on Saturday afternoon from his 4-day trip with his golfing buddies to Biloxi, MS. and Abby had to work. So, Chris offered to take me to dinner, which I rarely refuse. Right before we left, Brittany called. We spoke for a few minutes, then Chris asked to talk to her. He walked in another room, which I thought was a bit odd; they didn't talk for long.

Chris and I decided to go to a local restaurant for chicken wings. Just after we got seated, Brittany popped around the corner and surprised me! She had driven two hours home after she got off work so she could spend Mother's Day with me. I was so touched! That's why Chris was being so sneaky! We enjoyed a nice meal, then Brittany and I went by Abby's place of work to say 'hi' to her. Brittany hid behind some racks of clothes and whispered her name as she was checking customers out in an attempt to make her laugh...and it worked! I absolutely love hanging out with my girls!

That night, Brittany decided to give me my Mother's Day gifts early. She got me two pretty necklaces and a copper pepper grinder (it was on my Christmas list). Abby surprised me on Mother's Day morning with this pretty bouquet of flowers sitting on our kitchen table, as well as a purse and a shirt...

We went to church on Sunday morning together, which is all I wanted. The sermon was so perfect, too...all about motherhood. There were several times when I had to grab the Kleenex because the message hit so close to home. Here we are after we got home...

Can't you just feel the love?  They truly are my heart. I really couldn't have asked for a more perfect Mother's Day and it left me feeling so incredibly blessed. Being a mother can be challenging, at times, but the rewards make it all worthwhile.

We spent most of the day enjoying the beautiful weather outside and I snapped a shot of this little chipmunk...

He's much cuter in person, I assure you!

Chris and I are heading to Home Depot in a bit for a trap to catch a couple of squirrels that are eating all the bird seed on our back deck. We're going to relocate them to a local park. The poor birds can't get anything to eat because they've completely taken over. War has been declared...wish us luck!
