Always great to be participate in Hodgepodge! Just what I need for that middle of the week 'slump'. If you'd like to join in on the fun, simply answer the questions on your own blog and link up by clicking on the button.
1. Describe love using all five senses. What a great question, Joyce! Let's see, for me, love feels like a warm embrace, it smells like fresh-cut roses, it sounds like windchimes blowing in the breeze, it tastes like homemade coconut cream pie (specifically, my mom's), and it looks like the faces of my husband and girls. as well as my dogs' wagging tails when I enter the room.
2. February is Canned Food Month. What's your favorite food that comes straight from a can? It would be a toss-up between cut green beans and pink salmon.
3. A principal in a UK school recently sent home a letter to parents requesting they (the parents!) dress appropriately when escorting their children to/from school (basically saying please don't wear your pajamas). You can read the letter here. It's gotten a lot of publicity, both positive and negative. Your thoughts? And do/did you ever make the school run (or hit Starbucks, Wal-Mart, etc.) in your pjs? I'm a bit torn on this issue. I can definitely see the problem that's generated by some parents who might show up to their child's school in sleepwear that is best left to the bedroom. I completely get that. However, I, like many other parents, can attest to the fact that I've had many mornings with my girls when I did well just to get them to school on time, much less worry about my appearance. I remember dropping Abby off in the school car line ONCE wearing my robe and slippers. I prayed that someone wouldn't recognize me or that my car wouldn't run out of gas. It was mortifying enough for me to never risk it, again. No, I've never gone to a place like Starbucks or Wal-Mart in my pjs, but I have gone through the Sonic drive-through in them on a couple of occasions...I'm talking pj pants and a decent shirt and it was in the evening. It's something fun we've done with the girls as a last-minute treat. No way could you pay me enough money to ever consider going inside any building in my pjs!
4. Crew neck, V-neck, turtleneck, scoop neck...which is most prevalent in your wardrobe? Scoop neck, hand's down. I can't stand wearing turtlenecks!
5. I read here recently a list of four things to avoid so you wake up happier. They were late night snacks, hitting the snooze button, social media just before bed/upon waking, checking emails. Are you guilty of any of these behaviors? Which on that list do you need to work harder at avoiding? The only one I'm guilty of is getting on social media before I hit the hay. I try to limit it to a few mins.,but there's still room for improvement.
6. Share something you remember about a house you lived in as a child. Of all the homes you lived in as a child, which did you love best? When I was in my early teens, we lived in an A-frame house in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. I can still see the inside as clear as day. My and my brothers' bedrooms were to the right and Mom and Dad's was to the left; the family room and kitchen were in the center. We had a large dog named BoBo who stayed outside. He had a little room in our carport for sleeping. We had gone away for the weekend and when we returned, we called for him. Several minutes later, he came walking out of the room he slept in with his head hanging low to the ground...like he'd been caught with his paw in the cookie jar. Just a few seconds later, a TINY female dog ran out and suddenly it all made sense. BoBo had himself a little rendevous while we were gone. My dad always used to say that he was a lover, not a fighter, and that weekend proved it to be true. I would say that home was probably my favorite growing up because a lot of my close friends lived nearby.
7. Your favorite movie based on a true story. I didn't even have to give this a thought...Tuesdays With Morrie. It's, also, one of my favorite books.

8. Insert your own random thought here. Brittany has a job interview at 11 AM today and prayers are appreciated. She's currently working as a recreational therapist at a 24-hour facility for kids with emotional and behavioral issues and it's very stressful. She would like to move closer to home and to her boyfriend, David. The interview is for a recreational therapist position at a retirement community about 45 miles from here, which would be awesome! Abby and I are going to meet her for lunch, so I'm sure she'll fill us in on all the details.
Make today a great one!
