Sing For The Day

Some of you may be wondering about the title of my blog post. Basically, it boils down to the fact that I just returned from the park and there I listened to the song by Styx called 'Sing for the Day'. Put me in the best mood! There really is a lot of truth to that title. Life goes by quickly...why not sing for every day we're given? That's how I choose to look at it, any way.

Brittany arrived home safe and sound on Saturday afternoon. We thought she was going to be home on Friday, but her boyfriend, David, surprised her with a quick visit before she moved home. I think those two are getting very serious about their future together and I won't be a bit shocked if he decides to pop THE question.

I can't think of many sights that make me happier than seeing my two girls plopped together in a chair, side-by-side...

Brittany started her new position yesterday. She has orientation all week, then her 'official' first day will be next Monday. She's having to get up at 5 AM. She has to leave the house by 6 AM in order to make the 50 mile drive to arrive at work by 8 AM. Gotta love Atlanta! I think she'd forgotten how bad early morning traffic can get...and it's grueling. It took her close to two hours to make it home yesterday once she got off work. Thankfully, once she moves into her apartment in early July, she'll only be about 11 miles from work.

Abby is continuing to do very well with her summer classes and we couldn't be more proud! She's motivated and is putting forth the time and effort that's necessary to excel.  Just another sign that God is still answering prayers.

Thought I'd share a few shots I took this past week.

I love the look of raindrops on leaves...

I spotted this red-tailed hawk flying by when I was sitting in our family room. I hopped up, grabbed my camera, and ran on our back deck to see if I could spot him. Turned around and he was perched high on our neighbor's roof...

Looks like the geese were having some sort of a family gathering...

I took Abby to a dermatologist about her leg lesions. He said she most likely got bitten by a bug and an infection occurred for some reason, causing the lesions to form. He said they probably won't fade completely until December. He gave her a steroid cream to put on them and they look a lot better now, thank goodness.

I'm still nursing a pulled calf muscle that I got while running a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was better last week, so I attempted to run on it and I think I injured it even more. I'm hard-headed that way. So, I'll have to stick to power walking for the time-being until it heals.  I was so excited today because I walked just over 4.0 miles at a 12:57 pace...I think that might be a record for me! Not an easy feat with my short legs.

Remember, whatever life tosses your way today, find a reason, just one reason, to sing for the day!
