Wednesday Hodgepodge

I, for the life of me, can't seem to get back in the swing of blogging on a regular basis. I know I have things to blog about, but I can't muster up the motivation to get moving on it. Anyone else ever feel the same? Here's hoping that soon, very soon, everything will sort of fall into place, again, and I'll be back at it. 'Til then, I'm happy to participate in Hodgepodge! Want to join? Simply answer the questions on your own blog and link up.

1.  I read there are four creative activities to try this month. They were: calligraphy, make your own cookbook, dance or learn a new type of dance, and letter writing. Which activity on the list appeals to you most? Will you add it to your list in August?  I would love to know how to do calligraphy. My mother-in-law does and she has addressed all sorts of invitations for people over the years, including our own wedding announcements. I probably won't add it to my calendar for August, but one day I'd like to take the time to learn it.

2. Bertrand Russell is quoted as saying, 'To be without some of the things you want is an indispensable part of happiness.' Agree or disagree? Explain. Yes, I agree. I think if you have everything your heart desires, you have nothing to long for and dream about. If you have things you'd like to obtain or attain, it keeps you striving and working towards that goal. I've known of some people who seem to have it all, yet they are miserable souls, sadly enough.

3.  August 17th is National Thriftshop Day. Are you a 'thrifter'? If so, tell us about one of your best or favorite finds. I'm not a 'thrifter', per se, in that I don't get up early on Saturday mornings and hit the local the local flea markets, garage sales, and thrift stores like many people. However, if we're out and about and come across a thrift store, I might walk through to see if anything appeals to me. I purchased a couple of pictures for our formal living room that I found at an estate auction. Does that count?

4.  On a scale of 1-10(with 1=almost none and 10=loads), how would you rate your sense of wanderlust? What kicks your wanderlust into high gear?  I'd say it's about an 8. Traveling and various books and movies all play a role in kicking my wanderlust into high gear.

5. Has life felt more like a marathon or a sprint this month, so far? How so? I'm going to say a sprint because I seem to be darting from one place to another a lot lately.

6.  What do you need to get a jump on before fall officially arrives?  Honestly, I can't think of a thing. When fall arrives, I'll be ready!

7.  What's the last thing you did with friends or family where you lost track of time? It would have to be when the girls and I went tubing for 3 hours on the Ocoee River. We had no clue what time it was until we made it back to Brittany's car.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. I mentioned last week that I was doing something at church...IF I could muster up the nerve to follow through. Well, I did! I joined our church choir and I had my first 'performance' on Sunday. I loved it! Now, keep in mind that I don't have a musical background, at all, so this was a major step out of my comfort zone. However, the reason I decided to participate is to bring honor and glory to God for all He's done for me and our family. Our church has a membership of about 12,000, so my knees were knocking just a tad. I'm already looking forward to rehearsal tonight!  On another note, I had such a wonderful birthday on Saturday! Chris made me an amazing cake, as he does every year, and treated me out to a nice dinner and a movie. The girls made me feel like a queen, too, and I received cards from friends and family. Brittany came home on Sunday night and surprised me; she left Monday night. I used to think this growing older stuff was for the birds, but it seems to be getting better with each passing year. Sure hope it continues!
