Wednesday Hodgepodge

After a busy and rainy start to the week, it's nice to take a little break for Hodgepodge. Want to participate? All you have to do is answer the questions on your own blog and link up. Let's get started!

1.  Let's talk decorating. On a scale of 1-10, where do you fall? (1=Scrooge and 10-Clark Griswold). What's your favorite corner, room, table, space to decorate? Is it done? I'd say I'm probably about a 6 or 7. I used to love decorating the outside of our house when the girls were little. Now, I hang a wreath on our front door and one above our garage windows and call it a day. Inside, I like to decorate our family room the most...primarily, our Christmas tree and mantle. Yes, I've done all the decorating I plan to do.

2.  Is there a nativity scene in your decorating somewhere? Post a picture or if it's special to you in some way, tell us why. Or do both-it's Christmas! Yes, I display our nativity scene every year at Christmas. It's one Chris surprised me with shortly after we married in October of 1989, so it's been with us for 27 years. He purchased it at Service Merchandise in Knoxville, TN...remember those stores? I wouldn't trade it for anything...

3.  Do you live in a social neighborhood? If so, are you glad? If not, do you wish you did? We live in a large neighborhood with over 2,700 homes. We live on a pretty busy stretch of road consisting of 8 homes. So, even though our neighborhood is fairly social, our road isn't. Actually, I'm OK with it.

4.  As the saying goes, 'there's no time like the present'. How does that ring true in your life right now? Well, I'm ceasing the moment and staying on top of wrapping gifts as soon as they're purchased or delivered so I don't get overwhelmed with having to wrap a bunch of them all at once. Smart thinking, huh?

5.  Do you dread Mondays? Why or why not? I wouldn't say I dread them, necessarily, but they're the day Chris usually has to head out of town and I always miss him. Aww.

6.  Poinsettia, Christmas Cactus, Amaryllis-which on the list is your favorite holiday plant? Are there any on display in your home right now? My favorite would be a Christmas Cactus because my mom used to grow them. I had one up until last year and it finally bloomed and I was so thrilled. Then, out of nowhere, it bit the dirt. No, I don't have one currently...afraid I'll kill it.

7.  Share a favorite quote from a Christmas movie. 'Blast this Christmas music; it's joyful and triumphant!'~The Grinch

8.  Insert your own random thought here. Off to rehearsal tonight for 3 hours for our choir's Christmas production this Saturday and Sunday evening. We have dress rehearsal on Friday night from 7-10 PM, then we have to report on Saturday and Sunday at 5 PM; the program begins at 6:30 PM. Brittany and her boyfriend, David, are coming for a visit, so they'll be able to attend. Should be a great time!

'Tis the season!
