Wednesday Hodgepodge
I sure have missed participating in Hodgepodge for the past few weeks...so happy to be back! If you're interested in playing along, simply answer the questions on your own blog and link up.
1. 'April showers bring May flowers', or so the saying goes. Has your April been filled with showers? Do you carry an umbrella, wear a slicker, or make a run for it? Besides rain, what else has filled your April? I wouldn't say my April has been filled with showers, but we have gotten a fair amount of rain, especially recently. I do carry an umbrella with me whenever it rains. Besides rain, my April has been filled with doctor's appointments, choir rehearsals, church, and working in our yard (we're redoing a lot of our landscaping).
2. What's something you could give a 30-minute presentation on at a moment's notice and with zero preparation? Definitely how to cope when dealing with a prodigal child and how to rely on your faith in God for strength, wisdom, and peace.
3. Share with us your favorite food memory from childhood. My mom and I used to love watching 'Cops' together every Saturday night. She would make us a big bowl of popcorn to share while we watched it. I sure miss those moments with her.
4. What's a song you thought you knew the lyrics to, but later discovered you were wrong? 'Stayin' Alive' by the Bee Gees. There's a line that says, 'Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin'' and I thought it said, 'Music city breakin' and everybody's thinkin''. In fact, most of the songs by the Bee Gees I'm pretty sure I've gotten wrong all these years simply because they're sung so fast!
5. According to one travel website, the most overrated tourist attractions in America are: Niagara Falls(NY), Hollywood Walk of Fame (California), Times Square (NYC), Epcot (FL), Seattle Space Needle (WA), and Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market (Boston). How many of these have you seen in person? Did you feel like a tourist? Did you care? Tell us about a place (not on the list), you've visited that might be considered a tourist trap, but you love it, anyway. I have only seen Epcot in person. Yes, because of the large crowds, I definitely felt like a tourist and I didn't care one bit, though large crowds often make me feel a tad bit suffocated. I love Gatlingburg, TN., which is definitely a tourist trap. I love it there because it's nestled in the Smoky Mountains and it's where Chris and I went on several dates before we got married.
6. Your signature clothing item? Probably my Saucony running shoes. Any time I'm looking for comfort, they're my 'go to'.
7. What's an experience you've had you think everyone should experience just once? Why? Going horseback riding in both Colorado and Arizona. The scenery was almost too beautiful to take in. Would do it, again, in a heartbeat!
8. Insert your own random thought here. Such tragic news about the passing of Erin Moran who played Joanie Cunningham on 'Happy Days'. Everyone assumed her death was due to drugs, but she died following a 5-month battle with skin cancer, which spread to her spleen, lungs, and part of her brain. She was such a big part of my growing up years...may she Rest in Peace.
